Why do somebody wear a watch in thees days ouf carrying a mobile?
Status: Rolex; accessory: Gucci; instrument: this! I'm a luckyone having 15' from office to deck, so the question is quite often: what's the tide?
So this a very nice watch, with traditional styling and bright light readability. The clock face is self inuminating flourescent but can be backlighted by pressing the crown. For me pefect as singlehanded sailor at trips at night with two tips "light on" [crown] "acknowledge tide" [lower right] (only if the modes have been changed unperceived in action).
For navigation purose it's as well important to adjust tide to standard ports easyly: [pulling out the crown] & [pressing/holding lower right] until adjusted. Very easy - very good!
I own a Rip Curl Tidemaster aswell. That modle is sould out since years, but I like to compare the two watches:
TIMEX T2N721 is more elegant, smart and with 92g only half the weight having similar dimension. The selfiluminated flourescent clock face is sligthly better readable at the Tidemaster - especialy at the date display white digits on dark backgound at T2N721, but it compensetes with the backlighted option, which does not provide the Tidemaster.
After lots of wear I replaced the lost color & stickers at Tidemaster's lunette with selfiluminated flourescent epoxi - having at night an easy timer by hand. This will be no option for the fine engraved compass steady of T2N721. Nevertheless backlighting you can't see T2N721lunette in the dark - serious or can you keep it in mind?
Functions: OK T2N721 dosen't provide moon phase/ neap spring indicator as Tidemaster, but the setup for standard port adjustment is phantastic easy - at another is more complicated. TIMEX compass (not usuable for navigation purpose) & temperature indicator are for me gadgets.
Final conclusion: TIMEX T2N721 is an offshore / coastal 24/7 usable instrument.
One thing has to be trained: un/dressing. Crown and buttons tending to hang up in woolan pullover or net-inlay of functional clothing typical in armpits and wristband. But this is only annoying in the beginnig, then you'll find a workaround.

Ich habe die Uhr eher zufällig gefunden, oder die Uhr mich...?
Schon auf den Fotos wirkt sie solide und hochwertig. Wenn man sie dann in der Hand hält, weiß man, die ist robust und will "was erleben" ;-)
Alle Funtionen sind gut erklärt und auch in der Bedienung leicht abzurufen. Die Bewegungen der Zeiger wirken weich und dezent. Da ruckelt nichts. Die Beleuchtung ist auch ein "Highlight" im wahrsten Sinne. Das Ziffernblatt ist komplett hintergundbeleuchtet, ohne Schattierungen oder ähnliches. Gut ablesbar.
Kurz und knapp: Eine ganz tolle Uhr und für diesen Preis eigentlich unschlagbar. Ein einziges kleine Manko ist das Rauhlederarmband. Es ist ebenfalls solide, aber die 2 Schlaufen sind ebenfalls aus Rauhleder und sehr knapp in der Größe, so das es fast unmöglich ist, das Armbandende in die Schlaufe zu bekommen. Rauhleder auf Rauhleder rutscht nunmal nicht so gut, bis gar nicht.
Trotzdem, eine schöne Uhr!
